"Medical
Problems 2" Installation
Instructions
Installation for
Windows 8
1.
Copy the ADV
file to the C:\Users\Public\Documents\The Witcher folder. You
should see a m1_module.adv
file already in
this folder. If not, it's probably in the wrong folder,
unless
you know that you've removed "The Price of Neutrality."
2. The first time
you start the game, go to the Options
panel, to the Game Options
tab
and make sure that the "Subtitles"
option is checked.
3. If the language
in which you play The
Witcher is not
already set to English, please set it to English before starting up the
adventure, or you'll get a bizarre error message.
4. Unless you know that The
Witcher's
autosave doesn't work
properly for you (this is true for some people), I recommend that you
turn autosave on. (The
Witcher has
a tendency to crash when loading large areas, and I make sure my
adventure autosaves right before I load large areas, so if The
Witcher
crashes on you, you won't have lost anything.)
5.
Note that this adventure is for The Witcher; it
is not
intended for -- and will not work with -- The
Witcher 2
or The
Witcher 3.
6.

Installation for
Windows
7:
1. A Windows 7 user
told me that when she finally found the
right
folder for her Witcher adventures, the Address bar of Windows
Explorer read C: Users Public Public
Documents The Witcher.
The only operating systems I have are Windows 8 and Windows XP; I've
taken the
installation instructions for Vista from the Adventures Installation
Manual on the official Witcher website. That manual doesn't
include installation instructions for Windows 7, but if the file path
listed above doesn't help you, there IS help for
Windows 7 stuff in the In-Game
Tech section
of the official
Witcher
forum.
It should be easy to figure out where to put your game
files, though -- just find m1_module.adv
(try using the Search function) and put the all-in-one version
of
medical_probs.adv
wherever
that is. If
you find more than one copy of m1_module.adv -- which
will happen
if you're using Steam under Windows -- then put the adventure file in
the directory under Public Documents, NOT the directory under Steam in
Program Files.
2.
The first time you start the game, go to the Options
panel, to the Game Options
tab
and make sure that the "Subtitles"
option is checked.
3. If the language
in which you play The
Witcher is not
already

for
Windows
XP
1. Copy the ADV
file to the Shared Documents\The Witcher

it's probably in the wrong folder, unless you know that you've removed
"The Price of Neutrality." If you can't find it, open up
Windows

Witcher in the Address bar at the top.

and make sure that the "Subtitles"

Installation
for Steam on
Windows
Follow the instructions for whichever Windows operating system you
have. The Steam edition of The
Witcher looks
for the adventure files in the same place as any other edition of The
Witcher ...
when you're using Steam on Windows.
Mod
files go in a
different place if you're playing The
Witcher
under Steam on Windows, but adventure
files go in the same place as any installation of The
Witcher on
Windows. And no matter which installation of The
Witcher
you're playing, mod
files and adventure
files go in very different places, so please don't try to put your
adventure files in the same folder as your mod files!
There will
be a folder in
your Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher Enhanced Edition\The
Witcher with all of the adventures in it, but the game doesn't actually
fetch the adventure from there! That folder is only eating up
space on your hard drive, because the game actually USES the adventures
that are in the Public Documents folder. (I'm told that
things
are different when playing The
Witcher via
Steam on a Mac.)
Installation
for
Steam on the
Mac
1. Put the .adv file into
/Users/<your user>/Library/Application
Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/the witcher enhanced edition/The
Witcher.app/Contents/Resources/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/The
Witcher/
(Unless you moved your Witcher installation to another place, in which
case, put it in
The Witcher.app/Contents/Resources/drive_c/users/Public/Documents/The
Witcher/)
2. The first time you start the game, go to the Options
panel, to the Game Options tab and make sure that the "Subtitles"
option is checked.
3. If the language in which you play The
Witcher is
not
already set to English, please set it to English before starting up the
adventure, or you'll get a bizarre error message.

7. I
don't have a Mac, so someone who did told
me where to put
things on the Mac; thanks to her for that information!
