Need-Freezing Mod
for Old Town Community Lots

In The Sims 1, if you leave your home lot and go to a community lot in Old Town, no time passes at the home lot while you're away.  So if you leave at 8:00 o'clock in the morning, spend all day playing and making friends in Old Town and return totally exhausted, when you come home, it will be ... 8:00 o'clock in the morning.  If you're trying to eat and sleep on a schedule, so as to be well-rested for work, this is a problem.

Well, I can't make time pass while you're on a community lot, but I CAN freeze your needs while you're there, so that you'll return from a community lot in about the same condition in which you left.  Except for Fun and Social, since I'm assuming you're going to Old Town to play and socialize with others.

This magic crystal increases your Energy, Comfort, Bladder, Hygiene, and Hunger at around the rate that they decrease on community lots in Old Town, effectively freezing them.  It  doesn't affect your Social and Fun motives at all, so you can go play and talk to people.  It activates once every 15 - 20 minutes, so it's not a continuous gain; it happens periodically.  And of course it only works on lots that you've edited to have a crystal on them.

You can put this on the ground or on a table; the purple crystal isn't fussy. :-)  You can find it in the Miscellaneous - Decorative section of the catalog when you're editing community lots or in the Decorative - Sculpture section of the catalog at home.  Needs decay at a different level at home, so this will NOT effectively freeze your needs at home; it really IS intended for community lots, but I made it buyable at home just in case.

This is intended for community lots in Old Town.  Needs decay at a different rate Downtown and at other away-from-home lots, so using this there will make the Energy and Comfort needs refresh at a faster rate than Downtown requires.  Maxis couldn't use one rate for everywhere, because that would be too easy. :-)

Please note that the rate at which Comfort decays depends on how many points your sim has in Active.  The adjustment is in line with sims who have 5 Active points.  Sims with fewer will find that their Comfort does decay, whereas sims with more than 5 Active points will find that the mod fills their Comfort to a higher level than it was when they got to the lot.

It's supposed to be a magic amethyst crystal, though it looks more like a purple candle to me. :-)

Needs-Adjusting Mod for Old Town.zip

Installation:  Put this object in the Downloads folder of your Sims 1 game.  (It's okay to make a subfolder in the Downloads folder if you want to organize things.)

I've used this in my game with no trouble, but if it gives you problems, just delete it.

I've used a magic cookie to prevent conflicts, so this shouldn't conflict with the objects made by other modders.

I hope you enjoy this!

I made this mod for my own use, but I went to the trouble of uploading it in an attempt to make my fellow simmers happy.  So if you enjoy any of my mods, I'd love to hear about it!  I don't get mail at corylea.com, but you can leave a comment in the thread announcing my mods at ModTheSims or Reddit or send me a PM at either of those places; I'm Corylea at both.

Have fun!
