Faster Magical Growths
Magical growths
include
the beanstalk,
the Crystal
Clear Ability Rocks, and the magic flowers. In the
unmodded game, you get a magical growth after every FIFTEEN spells or
charms cast on your home lot in the regular neighborhood or after every
TEN cast on your home lot if you live in Magic Town.
That's a lot! The crystals give abilities that aren't
available in any other way, the beanstalk lets you up climb up and
visit a sleeping giant Will Wright (if it grows all the way up, which
takes 17 segments), and
the magical flowers don't do anything that I know of, but they give
your lot that "A spellcaster lives here" look.
So I've modded the game. This file makes something grow after
every 3 spells or charms cast on your home lot if you live in the
regular neighborhood or after every 2 if you live in Magic Town.
So you can actually see all the cool stuff that came with
Makin' Magic
before you lose interest in the spells and charms.
The file that controls the magical growths in the game also is the file
that disables Build and Buy when you take your sim to Magic Town.
Of course, you can always edit Magic Town when your sim is
NOT there, but sometimes something comes up, and you want to be able to
edit it while your sim is there.
So there are two versions of the mod:
1. One changes just the rate of magical growths -- More
Magical
Growth.zip
2. The other changes the rate of magical growths AND enables
Build and Buy when your sim visits Magic Town -- More
Magical Growth AND Enable Build Buy MagicTown.zip
If you want ONLY the Build/Buy enabler for Magic Town, you can get that
at Simslice.
If you just want the crystals and the beanstalk
without having to
cast any spells at all, Gnohmon has a mod for that, which you can get
at http://mistymage.com/gnohmongoodies/magic.html.
Installation: Take MagicMasterSpells.iff
out of the folder it
comes in and put it into your ExpansionPack7 folder. For most
players, this is at C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\The
Sims\ExpansionPack7.
Do
NOT put this in your Downloads folder, because it will not work there!
And of course, you can only use one version at a time, since they both override the same game file.
I
made this mod for my own use, but I went to
the trouble of uploading it in an attempt to make my fellow simmers
happy. So if
you enjoy this mod, I'd love to hear about it!
I
don't
get
mail at corylea.com, but you can leave a comment in the thread
announcing my mods at ModTheSimsReddit
or send me a PM at either
of those places; I'm Corylea at both.
Have fun!
